I fall somewhere between the other two reviewers. It's not the sharpest knife ever (or if you make it really sharp, it won't hold its edge very long), but its still pretty good for the price point, and good enough for the tasks I put to it (mostly dismembering fruits and some veggies).
Description of Calphalon Collector's Edition Traditional Cutlery 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife
Fully forged from a single piece of German high-carbon stainless steel, this 3-1/2-inch knife with its narrow blade and pointed tip is ideal for cleaning, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables. The blade is tapered from spine to edge and from heel to tip, with a bolster providing balance and safety. Additional balance and strength come from the full tang running through the handle, which is formed of hygienic, fiberglass-reinforced poly that won't crack, split, or chip and is attached to the tang with the traditional three rivets. The high-carbon stainless-steel blade takes and holds a fine edge and it won't rust, stain, or discolor. A quality knife like this should be hand washed.
