Customer Review: After less than 3 years... in the trash

I reviewed this product several months after I had bought it and was very happy with it (old review preserved below) but I have come back to edit my review because after less than 3 years the non-stick coating started peeling off into my food even though I treated it as directed-- no metal utensils, no dishwasher, only washing with a soft brush. The outside edges of the pot also got severely scratched up just turning it over in to wash it in the porcelain sink. I don't know if this is a "cheap Calphalon" thing or if it is a general problem with non-sticks and hard-anodized but I will not be buying ANY non-stick pot EVER again.
I will say that I have yet to find an 8-qt pot in a shallow design like this one had, and for the loss of it I am sad.

This is my first ever Calphalon purchase. After dealing with cheap pots that lose their nonstick coating and then rust and burn over time I was ready to try something on the more expensive side. I generally use the same one pot for all of my cooking so I decided it would be worth it for me to spend this much on one pot, especially one this big.
The handles and lid do get hot but I just solve that problem by keeping a small pot holder on the lid at all times.
It is very wide and allows me to sautee a lot of meat at once and make layered dishes that can still heat through quickly. One minor problem is the fact that it is a very wide pot and it is wider than my standard-sized burners, so I often have to shift anything I'm sauteeing around between the center and the middle because the food in the center cooks quickly but the food on the perimiter doesn't.
It is very easy to clean. For the first few weeks I had it it had a strange smell whenever I washed it but that has gone away.
